It would appear that Norton does not want to run in restricted user role. There are a variety of differnt products that seem to have this problem. This is causing many people to run as local admin on their PC, which causes many security issues. Best solution is to switch software vendors. If...
When you indicate that it does not work, what exactly is it doing? Does it not connect at all? Can it see the router? Does it connect to the router but can't get on the Internet?
Have you checked to see if you are getting an IP address and gateway from the router? (IPCONFIG /ALL) Can you...
We also use the GFI MailEssentials product, but we front end it with Spam Filtering on our Firewall (WatchGuard). The combination of the 2 pushes our success rate higher. We average 94-97% of all e-mail being spam. Ocassionaly a SPAM does get through. There are some products that will stop a...
I would like to implement a stronger password policy for our network. We require a password that is 6 characters long, changed every 90 days, and keep 32 password histories.
Unfortunately, the Microsoft Strong Password Policy does a number of things, most that we like, but the part that sets a...
Just plug the printer nic into your router. Assign an IP Address in the subnet for the printer to use. Add the printer (Network attached) to both computers.

Every Firewall is different on how rules are set up and on capabilities. We have our rules set up so that the wireless can't do streaming (save bandwidth), can't view Porn and other nasty sites. We also do some virus checking. Otherwise pretty much open.

Tried that and it did not work. That was my thought too. User apparently had set a password before joining the domain. I am downloading 0phcrack now.

I have a user who took a laptop from our Domain and switched it to a workgroup. They do not know any of the local passwords and now can't access the machine. The machine will now not recognize the domain anymore. Is there anyway around this?

The way we do it is to have two seperate VLAN's on our switches (Cisco). One is for our network and the other for the wireless. We then feed each of these into seperate ports on our firewall. We apply different rule sets to each of these ports. Our wireless equipment are access points...
A couple of things to start with...
Make sure that both computers are set up in the same workgroup. (Control Panel, System, Computer Name)
Make sure that your personal firewalls are set up to allow file and print sharing.
Have you created network shares? You need to set up secuirty to allow...
At the minimum, you would want to have a properly configured firewall on the laptop computer. You would want to be very carefull of any file or print sharing. Anything sent wireless without being either ssl or vpn would be vulnetable to viewing/modification. Probably would also want to be...
Finally, I would make the point that if my daughter wants to use the computer, she will be monitored. If the monitoring tools are disabled or removed, she loses her access. In the corporate world, if you try to by-pass internal controls, you can be fired. Better to learn it home from Mom and...
I want to clarify your question...
Are you saying that you want to provide wireless between these buildings or you want to provide wireless to users around (outsideof) these buildings (2-5 kms)?
