Which version of SharePoint? If you have Frontpage, it can be done there.

I have the same problem. I changed the alerts to let me know only when a document is added. In the Quick Launch, Select Alert Me and select the setting Added Items instead of All Changes.

Sharing the link to the personal view will enable the person to see it. Just give them the link address for your personal view.

For question 2, have you ever thought of just creating a Document Workspace and inviting those groups to the workspace. You can add a link to each groups site that will direct them to the Doc Workspace.

Hi, I don't have access to the root files on SharePoint. Is there a way for my to make a field in a issues list hidden? I want the Assigned To field to be hidden but not deleted.

Well, you could add a view where the person can only see forms that he created/filled out. In Modify Settings and Columns there should already be a view title My Forms. Set that as the default. Then change the other views to private views which will only allow you to see all of the other forms.
