I agree with SirBlack, don't go into the registry. Spybot Search and Destroy has in their advanced panel under tools a screen for Uninstall Information. this screen allows the removal of the name of the program from the add and remove program screen. Don't forget if you are putting a keylogger...
I don't want to sound stupid, however I need to ask -- I didn't do much printer work for my A+ -- couldn't it be flushed with alcohol, until it's open, then flushed with ink? I would think that the alcohol (Isopropal, not booze although I have to admit the latter is tempting) might break the...
Probably sell it -- college kids are notoriously short of money (at least mine is) Keep your ear pealed you'll most likely hear about it, or maybe offer a reward ($5) if it is returned, and state no questions asked. Just put up a sign that says reward, don't put the monetary amount on it... in...
One thing that willir didn't mention, what is the reputation of the two accounting firms? Having just taught a tax prep course here in the states, I know that it's one of those cases where you "get what you pay for" which firm will be the most reliable if you were audited.
I quit a tax firm in...
Wow, after reading all of this, I wish I could say it sounds like something that one of us in IT would make up -- unfortunately, I think we all know that isn't true. Lespaul, we in IT have to be ethical. Unfortunately, every now and then we run across someone who isn't. IMHO, this is fraud...
I believe it, just with the little I read... and yes, Diskeeper does defrag the MFT, and the page file also. It is done on startup. it also will run a check disk on boot up as well... I have had my system up since January, and hadn't defragged. I found a lot of difference, and I know better...
Actually, they kind of qualify for the MCSE requirement, if you take the MCSA track and then pursue the MCSE (which most likely is more expensive) I think that the Security+ and the net+ would be the way to go though, because then you will have an idea about protecting the network....

I didn't take any offense I just was surprised that it was "plenum-rated" instead of plenum.
Y'all are right it is a 'how to pass the NET+ exam' book. I'm on the forum to learn the real world way vs the dry boring non-meaningful, sleep-inducing ways that are in her books.
According to the...
Yes, it does, and according to that article, Exchange is different, you can't defrag it while the database is running and once it's been defragged a new backup needs to be made of exchange because all the records have moved...

I would suggest that those of you who don't defrag look at the fragmentation amounts on your servers, as well as your workstations on a regular basis. I think you will be surprised at how badly fragmented they become and how short a time it takes.
I ran a search on the microsoft site regarding...
actually you can also use the acetone nail polish remover with that foam --- the directions say to use that if you get it on your fingers -- my husband uses it around the air conditioner in the summer, and it peels right off when it's time to take the ac out come fall -- what's bad is the only...
I got that info from the Net+ book by Tamara Dean. The book is "The Network Guide to Networks", and since I didn't do too good a job from memory, let me quote her here, now.
"...If you run cable in the plenum, the area above the ceiling tile or below th subflooring, make sure the cable sheath...
I also use diskeeper, not only on the desktops on the servers too.
I checked my manuals from Microsoft for all of the servers, NT4, 2000 and 2003, and they all basically say this:
"...Anytime you add files to or remove files from a drive, the data on the drive can become fragmented. When a...
