Router? DHCP can't go through routers (broadcast) unless there is a DHCP Proxy. That could be one of the reasons why it's not getting the IP. Unless you can manage the router to allow broadcasts to go through, then you're going to have to make one of the PCs on the Laptop segment a DHCP...
Nobody is going to read all that and try to come up with a suggestion. Maybe you should draw a diagram of the network and place it on a site, then link it through this post.
I think as long as you have the best Switch as the backbone it should be fine. Just make sure you even out the load on each of the other switches. You don't want to have 24 users having to go through one port on the backbone switch. A+

I had installed Norton Anti-Virus 2000 on my Win2K AS. This anti-virus has an auto-protect feature that scans files that you are using or loading in real time. Norton gave me an alert telling me that Explorer.exe is a Trojan and will be quarentened (spelling?). Anyways, I rebooted the PC just...
What's the difference between a Volume and a Partition on a hard drive?
What is the maximum amount of hops for a OCMP packet?
How fast (in Megabytes) does ATM go?
What is the maximum distance for a packet to be sent on a T3 line before the signal starts fading?
What Windows 2000 service is...
Thanks for all your suggestions guys. But, it seems that the problem has gone away after letting the PC run all day long and rebooting it when I got home from work. I'm still not sure what the problem was. I would have taken a Screen Capture if I could have to show you what altavista looked...
I upgraded to IE6-b, and I wasn't too crazy about it. So, I uninstalled the IE6 and went back to IE5. Now on every web site which doesn't specify a font size or style, like google.com, I get these big ass fonts which kills the layout of the site. I've gone to "Tools"->"Internet...
Does the HD on the Slave/2IDE have an OS on it too? Does the HD with two OSs work when it is by itself? No, freezing, ect... If the Slave/2IDE HD have an OS, does it freeze when it's by itself? I also recommend have the main HD that she will be using, on the First IDE. This depends on...
Ok. Only DirectX 8 has the ability to midify the startup.
As for PBXMAN quote"Note - you cannot disable the startup programs from this window - only view them." I'm not sure if you mean the DirectX8 cannot disable or the "Software environment" can't disable it. I'm not on...
Easier way:
DirectX
%ROOT%\Program Files\DirectX\Setup\ - DxDiag.
Open it, click on the "More Help" tab on the top right.
Then select "MSInfo" (new window pops open), "Tools" -> then "System Configuration Utility".
Click the "Startup" tab...
I hear what you're saying. I have two of them on a IBM 704 server and they are high pitched. There's nothing you can really do about it. I believe the HD wasn't really ment for a PC, but rather a server.
I would look at programs being launched during startup. I had the same problem as you, and it was caused by a HP program being launched when I start Win. You might as well try troubleshooting which programs at the start are safe to run. You can use the DirectX program to manage what is...
If you're going to change a HD onto a different PC, you should remove all "Device Manager" settings. This will correct a PnP problem when you transefer the HD to the new PC. If you don't to this, Windows might keep all the Devices for the previous PC, rather than the new one. And, I...
