Hey all—

I’m preserving a Lucent/Avaya DEFINITY G3csi system running R6 in a CMC cabinet.

I’m hoping to:
  • Safely upgrade or clone a translation
  • Understand the proper upgrade path to R7/R8 ECS
  • Locate PCMCIA image dumps or boot kits (for archival/lab purposes)
If anyone here worked with these systems (especially back in the TN790B / TN2311AP / PCMCIA flash card days), or has old media, docs, or tech stories to share—I’d be grateful.

This is part of a historical enterprise telecom lab project, not for production use.

Thanks in advance!

I have a few of the very old manuals that I have been keeping for an occasion such as this.

Provide me with a shipping address and I'll get them out to you in the next couple weeks.

May I suggest running both digital AND analog phones off of this system? It would make for a better representation of the enterprise world at the time (and even now in some cases).

I can donate some TN circuit packs for stations or trunks if needed. You may already have them too.

I'd also be happy to help with xln programming -- I'm less versed in the install/upgrade of these but I could ask around if there's anything specific needed.

So the goal for my lab is to simulate 3 environments these PBXs were used in:
  • “Corporate Office” - regular DCP phone users and analog users at a regular desk with an attendant console; would like to add Audix VM, dial-in networking gateway
  • “The Call Center” - call center users with skill group logins, eventually adding CMS/Mosaix/MAPD/CTI
  • “Luxury Hotel” - Hospitality systems including PMS, Audix, Lucent hospitality, neon lamp MWI, speech synthesizer, Inn-Form integration, GuestWorks, etc.
Currently I have a ton of the regular analog and DCP line cards, more DS1 cards than I could use, network interface (incompatible with current system), and 10 8434dx phones. I also have 15 8410Ds. I know most of what I listed above is virtually impossible to find these days but I’m going to try! Any leads or ideas are always appreciated.

Also working on setting up YouTube and blog documentation as well.
