I have implemented Cisco Ping MIB into MRTG / RRDtool successfully, but unfortunately I am noticing that the IP SNMP process consumes a lot of memory and doesnt release the memory, even if the polling stops. The only was to clear this is to reboot the router.

Could someome explain the what ICMP Port Unreachable and ICMP Redirect for host is? The explain files arent that clear.
Is there any documents that explain in depth all the error messages / expert alarms?

Hi,
I am trying to setup start and stop triggers that a user can initiate when they think the network is running slow, and then reset so they can keep on doing this.
I have created a start capture filter based on a telnet to tcp port 4747 and the RST flag set to 1 for the no connection...
I am thinking about studying for the SCP and associated certifications. Does anyone know of any good web sites or reference materials that would be good reading in preparation to these?
