On the basis that your time is based on 1st Jan 1900 origin, I'd take the number of days since then from your date field and add them to the time field.
select dateadd(dd,datediff(dd,0,'2011-10-14 00:00:00.000'),'1900-01-01 09:00:00.000')

Advice required, please.
I'm currently running dts jobs from an original 2000 SS implementation on a 2005 SS install by way of dtsrun in SS Agent. There are a good five dozen jobs that run daily/weekly.
I know that I should be converting these jobs to SSIS ones to allow for the eventual upgrade...
Good day!
I've been tasked with formatting product descriptions from upper case to 'proper case' as part of a system transition. Whilst I can use the "proper" stored procedure (as cribbed from GMastros' post* on Lessthandot), it also changes part numbers (e.g. FGHR-12) or abbreviations (uPVC)...
I'm getting in a tangle with doing time comparisons from SQL server job history, and was wondering if there's a simple, elegant way of converting/combining times?
The field [run_duration] in msdb..sysjobhistory is an integer in the form of hhmmss rather than a UNIX-like count of the number of...
Morning,
Whilst assisting a friend with iTunes on his XP PC, I noticed that every use of IE resulted in an adware type popup window appearing. This window has an orange banner which features a green shopping bag with a white capital "G". The content is product that bears some relevance to the...
Hello, all.
Looking for some advice on processing attendance information.
I've been asked to report on employee attendance showing number of days and number of events.
There is an absence table which holds (amongst other items) absence reference (unique), employee number,
type of absence...
Good day, all.
I'm using a VBA-like program (Cognos Script) to attempt to add a short piece of code to an Excel file. The method works when adding a macro, but not for more general code.
The Code is a Worksheet_SelectionChange event and is constructed in a string using Chr(34) and Chr(13)...
Greetings!
I've got a wee problem with using xlValidateList and just wanted to check whether I was doing it right or whether it was an Excel quirk. Using both 2003 and 2007 'flavours' of Excel.
I want to restrict users to the entry of either 1,2 or 3 on a cell which is formatted not to show...
Greetings, all.
I'm using SQL Server 2005 as a small data warehouse for storing and processing information derived from our trading system and other sources (HR, Excel, csv), such operations being run from DTS jobs (dating from inception on SQL Server 2005) on a schedule starting at 5 a.m. and...
Greetings, all.
I have a small problem that I cannot find a solution for - it is Friday afternoon and my google-fu is weak.
I am adding a macro to a spreadsheet by way of VB script, using the code
Set xlmodule = objExcel.Workbooks(1).VBProject.VBComponents.Add(1)...
Hello all,
I have recently upgraded to SQL server 2005 from 2000, due to a server switch and licensing changes. It's running on Windows Server 2003.
On a daily basis, the SQL DBs are updated from our trading database, by way of an ODBC link.
This update starts early in the morning, once the...
I suspect this is going to be an IE7 issue (settings and lack of certification of 7.4 with IE7), but has anyone experienced the problem of the PNG icons of the Dimension viewer (left hand side of the report - folders, tree and '+' & '-' boxes) not being shown?
I've found KB1023105.2 on the...
Greetings, all.
I am puzzling over the method by which I can remove and repopulate the members of a special category in a dimension in transformer.
The sequence I had was
1. read all categories at the relevant level of the dimension into an array to give me a list of all categories and their...
Having upgraded our install to 7.4 from 7.3MR3 last week, I've noticed a massive improvement in Transformer build times for models with detailed levels (10K+). This is due to a great reduction in the Metadata update times. Does anyone know whether this is improved Cognos coding or improved...
Hi there. Not sure whether this forum or the DTS forum (forum961) would be best for this q, but I'll post here.
I usually work with Cognos software, but have been constructing a small datamart with SQL server 2000 to stage transaction data in. The timetable is that from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m., I have...
Having just shrinking Transformer models in the pyi > mdl > pyi process prior to making compact back-ups, I noticed that the use of double quotation marks in calculated data fields is not properly parsed when saving a .pyi model as a .mdl.
Attempting to open an affected .mdl will give a TR1100...
Preface: I'm at work and can't access google for this.
I leave my mac on 24/7 (thunderstorms excepted) and have a slow-ish broadband connection via the telephone line.
If I leave Excel or Word running overnight, I often find a message in the morning warning me that the licence has been...
Users' complaint is that selecting 'down a level' in a PP web report is a little tricky - mousing to the correct slither of a cross tab report and then right-clicking.
The request is for a pair of custom buttons - one for row, one for column - to make this a bit easier.
(Given that it's a...
Found a pdf on the Cognos site that relates some of the planned enhancements.

I appreciate that many of you will have seen it already, ao apologies if this is 'no news' to you.

Apologies for the repetition, as I've asked this before. I just have some niggling users.
Can anyone tell me how to change the text that appears when hovering the cursor over the icons below the reports in PPWeb? I particularly want to change the default 'custom 1' text to reflect their action...
