Hi
Friday last week I went into my HP Insightmanger and clicked on all systems as usual, but only the hpsim server itself is showing, all the other 80+ servers are no longer listed. Now I know I haven't changed anything, most of those servers are on the same subnet, could I have clicked on a...
Hi Folks
We have a full 3.5 production environment, but at the moment I am playing around with 3.5i on our DMZ, after all its free now :-)
I found the details about how to get to the CLI and enable SSH, but when I try and connect I still get
Network Error: Connection Refused.

Hi,
I have recently installed a new EPO server using version 4, all seems to be working ok so far, however, our old 3.6 server managed to fill its database limit of 2gb for msde, so now we wish to move the new server from MS SQL 2005 express to full blown SQL. Can this be done easily without...
Hi,
Was wondering if there was such a thing as some best practice information for certain server types, i.e on a SQL server don't scan these files/directories.
I am trying to configure VirusScan Enterprise 8.5 for use with SQL, Citrix, Progress, IIS, and VMWare (virutal machine under ESX)...
Hi All
I was wondering what you guys used to monitor the performance of your Progress Databases, we are currently not using anything and I am looking at putting something in place. We run databases on both Sun Solaris and Windows platforms.
Thanks

Hi
I recently upgraded a base solaris 9 installation to the the current patch release on an E250, all has gone well apart from 1 bit. We have a hsg80 SAN attached to our server, this uses Compaq Storage Works software, after the patch upgrade a component of this 'cmdscriptwin' decided to sit...
Apologies if this is a real no brainer, but it has me stumped at the moment.
How do you send a line break to an output/log file from a shell script (I mainly use KSH)
Cheers
Steve
OK Here's my scenario
Solaris 9, ran /usr/sbin/ftpconfig to setup anonymous ftp with home directory of /export/ftp, then added the following lines to /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow

ftp:NP:6445::::::
Directory Permissions as follows:
# pwd...
Right here's another newbie question
Two default entries in the root crontab after a Solaris 9 installation.
The commands I have no problem with, /usr/sbin/rtc & /usr/lib/gss/gsscred_clean
Both have a [ -x ] version then && and the normal command.
What's with the [-x ] bit?
Is it the same as...
OK guys, I am going to go looking around for information on this one, but thought I would throw it open to the floor as well. I am sure it will give some of you a morning smile on how badly a system can be built!!
Some of you guys must have had a to dig people out of similar situations ;-)
We...
Hi Guys
I have a Sun Blade 150 to patch from the base version of Solaris 9 (it has never been patched, has no kernel patch on it at all!)
Are there any gotch ya's I should be aware of? or is it just a case of implementing the latest patch cluster?
Obviously I will have a 100% full backup of...
Nothing to complicated ;-)
We have apache setup as a Reverse Proxy, which allows proxying of SSL servers, over which we would like to allow users to download an xml file. But when we try IE throws up an error message - Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested...

I am trying to ascertain which core modules Apache can do without, if you are just using Apache as a Proxy Server for reverse proxy, I have the list of the core modules from apache.org, just wondering if any of you guys have done anything similar.
Any comments appreciated.
I am using /usr/bin/apache/rotatelogs to (funnily enough) rotate my access logs. This is all working lovely, but I have a question, is there a way of converting the number that apache sticks on the end of the access log to a recognisable date/time format?
An example of one of my filenames is...
Please make allowances for me as I am relatively new to Apache, "I used to be Netscape but I'm better now" ;-)
What I am looking to do is change a URL's prefix
i.e. http://serv1/dir2/........ to get redirected to http://serv2/......
I have managed to get a fixed URL redirection...
