I suspect this is a question for UK members only.
I am using a BT Homehub 6 on my PlusNet internet account. The supplied PlusNet router is essentially a Homehub5, and PlusNet is a no-frills BT service, otherwise they are separate businesses.
The BT HH6 works really well on all fronts - 5GHz...
I'm trying to open a Powerpoint file but keep getting these two error messages: VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSCVP140.dll not found.
The PPT file seems fine as it opens on another machine, and I have reinstalled Powerpoint 2016, but the error keeps appearing.
The error seems to be related to PP2016...
My PC went bananas when I switched it on this morning with several minutes worth of different and repeated error messages (each accompanied by the usual beep) about various file types being re-set back to the their original MS defaults. They all seemed to link the file type back to Edge, which...
I'm not a happy bunny and apologies if I rant.
The update started downloading seemingly automatically, so I let it do its business. It was a big download so I left the room. When I came back later (over an hour) the system was showing the start up page. I clicked for the list of users but...
I upgraded to Windows 10 a few weeks ago and all has been fine since.
However a family member asked to use the PC via the Guest Account, which if memory serves, was the first time it had been used since the upgrade. No password is required for the Guest Account.
The login seemed to take a long...
How do I change default shutdown to logoff in Windows 10?
It was really easy in Win 7 to change Shutdown to Log Off, but now I have to open the shut down menu and then click on Log Off.
The Mrs is forever shutting the PC down when she's finished, rather than clicking Log Off and then the PC...
Hello - it's good see the familiar top techs are still here assisting us lesser mortals! Since I retired in 2010, I don't play with PCs on a daily basis like I used to and feel out of touch.
I'm considering the move from Win7 Pro to Windows 10, but have a few questions first. I may be...
Firstly I hope I'm posting the correct place, and secondly, I'm probably looking for confirmation that the solution is not in my hands.
Kodakpulse.com is a website which allows users to wirelessly manage a Kodak Pulse digital picture frame.
The website has worked as expected for several...
I'm using Windows Live Mail 2012 on Win7 64bit, which works fine. I collect mail from some three POP3 accounts, and send messages without problem. It works as expected.
However, messages from my wife(!) sent from her Yahoo! account appear blank. See attached.
If I click Select All and...
I have recently substantially upgraded my PC hardware, and have installed Win 7 64bit Home Premium from an OEM SP1 disc.
I previously had Win 7 32 bit Professional installed from an upgrade disc, pre-SP1.
The issue is I'm no longer able to backup to my NAS drive - this is a "feature" of Win 7...
I see there's threads about similar ransomware (FBI/MoneyPak) but the wife's son has collected URUASY.A, which is proving impossible so far to remove.
MS recommend running Windows Defender Offline, which I've done, using a bootable USB stick, but nothing is detected. As far as Defender is...
My PC has been been really annoying me recently as it "buzzed" a lot on boot up. But after Win7 was fully loaded, there was no apparent problem and everything was quiet, smooth and just fine.
After completely dismantling it, going mad with the Dyson cleaning out every nook and cranny, and then...
Please forgive me if I've posted in the wrong place, but it's a multi-brand issue.
A friend with a Mac OS X 10.5.4. has recently purchased an Epson Stylus Photo PX710W.
Via the USB port, the printer is fine. However it's proving impossible to set up the wireless link, via a BT Home Hub.
We...
This problem seems to be specific to IE9. (IE9 on Win7 32, 4Gb RAM with an NVidia GeForce 8600GTS vid card.)
The Twitter home page seems to be downloaded, the favico appears in the tab, the Verisign Certificate is accessible but the screen is blank white with nothing displayed.
If Google is...
I've had a lot trouble with my Gigabyte P35C-DS3R mother board, which I've had for about 3 years.
The POST now frequently fails to recognise the two hard disk drives and two the DVD-RAM drives.
I have replaced the SATA and IDE cables, and even one of the hard drives, but the problem persists...
I've used MSO2K3 for some time now, and have the chance to install MSO2K10 Home and Office from a 3 copy version.
I use MSO2K3 Outlook and have collected over the years and big list of contacts, as well as using the Email and Calendar sections daily.
If I install MSO2K10 Home and Office with...
The issue is that on boot up, hard drive detection is erratic. I've changed the SATA cables but detection still seems to be as much miss as hit.
When the system's working, the HHDs all check out as healthy, so I'm suspecting the 4 year old mo-bo is on the way out.
The mo-bo is a Gigabyte...
My C: drive, a 500Gb Seagate Barracuda, is producing warnings in 32-bit Windows 7
I've run SeaTools and to cut a long story short, Seagate will replace the HDD FOC, but I'll be without a C:/boot drive for a week or so (I can live with that!)
So I'm looking at making an image of the failing...
My Windows Experience Index is all in the 7s and 8s bar the HDD C: which is 5.5. So I'm looking to replace it with something faster.
Finding a suitable new HDD is no big deal, but re-installing Win7 could be.
I only have a Win 7 upgrade disc, so will I have to install WinXP first or is there...
I went away for a few days, left the PC switched off for the duration but when I pressed the "on" button last night when we returned, nothing happened. It's a 2Gb Intel quadcore on a Gigabyte GA-P35 mo-bo in a tower case with 3 HDDs and 2 DVD drives and a Radeon 9600 series graphics card.
The...
