Despite setting HISTFILE to something else, all command history goes to .sh_history. I have checked /etc/profile and /etc/environment. Does anyone have any suggestions?
We are planning an OS upgrade from 5.3 to 7.1. The server in question is a hub for files coming in and going out via sftp, using ssh keys. Do I need to take any precautions regarding authorized_keys and known_hosts?
Thanks,
Michael
My server won't come up in any mode other than booting from CD in maintenance mode. File /usr/lib/libcrypt.o has disappeared. Can I somehow install just this file (possibly the fileset) from the command line, or do I have to reinstall AIX?
Any help is appreciated.
Michael
My AIX 5.3 machine does not accept logins. The error messgaes are:
Could not load program telnetd:
Dependent module libbsd.a(shr.o) could not be loaded.
Could not load module libbsd.a(shr.o).
System error: No such file or directory
Any ideas on how to recover from this?
Thanks,
Michael
When using ksh, the command line scrolls to the left after about 76 characters. Since the current directory is part of the prompt, the longer the current directory, the fewer characters of the command I am typing I can see. My terminal type is xterm. Any suggestions are welcome!
I am running a ksh script which runs the following comand:
su <username> -c "script_name parm1 parm2 parm3"
It prompts for <username>'s password, then displays the message
ksh: script_name not found
This is true even when the full path name for the script is provided. The script DOES exist...
Is there a nolock option on select statements in sybase? I'm dealing with a large inquiry system that aquires thousands of locks to the point where it exhausts 85,000 locks. Nothing is being updated by the system and the locks are useless!
In AIX, after deleting all the lines from a file and saving, I and up with a one byte file containing a new line character. I expected to end up with a zero byte file, the same as in Linux or Solaris. This behavior is causing ‘test –s’ not to produce the desired results.
I have a dump of the production database, which I want to import into a test database on a different server. How do I tell import to replace everything? I am getting 'duplicate key' errors. Oracle 9 and AIX 5.3 on both servers.
I am running fsck on AIX 4.3.3 on a 7026-6H1. The filesystem is on a single EMC drive, 64 GB in size. The disk is between 99 and 100% busy, it has been running for 3 1/2 hours, and is still in phase 1. There are no errors displayed, or by runnig errpt. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have two L-pars on a p650, both running AIX 5.2 (obviously). For no apparent reason, most of the filesystems become corrupt within a short time of fixing them. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Does anybody have a solution?
Thanks,
Mike
