I'd like to know how many multicast groups my switch is currently subscribing to. Is there an SNMP mib that I can pull against to get a) the total number or b) total per interface that can sum together?
Anyone?
Anyone know a good forum for the Redhat Directory Server the Redhat Certificate server and/or the use of CAC cards to authenticate client logins?

Two related questions:
1. Why would someone intentionally not set the loopback address in their hosts file.
2. What are the possible effects of this?
I think I know the answer but wanted to get everyone's take.
Thanks,
I've read a bunch of things regarding the fact that you can expect packet loss with smaller size packets (for instance with smart bits starting at 56 bytes and scaling up to 1280 bytes. But what I haven't seen is a plausible explanation as to why?
Anyone?

Anyone see a need to run Postfix in a jail if your running on RHEL 5 with SELINUX. There seems to be rules for all the usual mail gateway services; amavis, spamassassin etc.

I've searched hi and lo for a good primer on setting up a DNS Blacklist. I finally got one set up but I'm not sure it's right. I'd like to find a no-sh?t guide that allows me to use a URL list vice an IP listing.
THanks if you can help. have a good day if you can't.

I need to add a static route using IP ROUTE 2 such as
ip route add 10.0.0.0/24 dev eth0 mtu 1340 advmss 1300 via 10.0.4.1
How do I make that static so that if I need to do a service network restart, that route is automagically restored.
Thanks,
Nate
I have a mail server with the message_size_limit = 104857600 (100Mb). (Don't ask. manager insists he needs these files) However an external mail user reported sending an 11mb file and a deny message was sent back. I am trying to determine what happened if anything at all on our end. I have a...
I have DNS servers that need to have 1 private IP and 1 public IP. I decided to add a virtual interface to both with the public IP. The documents say to add an entry in the /etc/hostname.hme0:1 with the hostname advertised in my /etc/hosts file but there is already an entry there for the...

This is a snippet from my logs on my DNS server where someone fetched from sub.litplanet.com. I'm just trying to get a breakdown of what all this means. There are obvious statements such as time hacks and createfetch etc but then there's the fctx, resquery statements and then some weirdness...

When I connect to the serial port on my V240 I get access to ALOM. When I type "console" I expect to be dropped into the ok prompt but nothing happens. I try and send a break with both break -y (from ALOM) and Ctrl-Pause from winterm. It tells me a break request is sent but I get no 'ok'...
Anyone have the formula for computing CPU percent from /proc/stat. I assume it is a matter of counting jiffies between intervals and then dividing over total jiffies but I'd like to get your take.
