I have designed a website for a friend in the jewellery trade. http://www.jewelgem.com/ I'm not up to data-base work and so got some one to do the 'back-end' stuff. The site went live in October 05 but it is not ranked at all. Even when I type in exact phrases which match the site wording...
I see some suberb quality graphics on websites but can't acheive this myself.
When I reduce large files down to thumbnail size in photoshop, the quality deteriorates quite dramatically. Yes I do the process in stages and have tried all techniques but no joy. I understand there are some apps out...
I'm a little uncertain about the visible screen area to use for the various monitor resolutions taking into account headers, footers and scroll bars.
I design on a mac but obviously most viewers will be using PCs with explorer. I want to optimise my design fo 1024 X 768 with a fluid layout to...
I use 2 monitors on my Mac. The 21" is my work area and I always have Toolbars/windows on a smaller monitor. I've been looking at InDesign and whilst the toolbars can be moved around, the windows seem to move only horizontally and stuck to the right edge of my main monitor. How do I move them ?

Now I'm on OSX I have to decide whether I'm going to upgrade to Quark 6 or go the InDesign route. One particular job is a 60 page glossy brochure, Perfect bound, graphics intensive, which I have produced using Quark 5.5 OS9.
I have read and heard so many horror stories re Q/Xpress 6 that I would...
Does anyone know if there is a filter in photoshop which generates the effect shown on the pages in this website. If not p/shop, then how?

It's a sort of horizontal corrugation and I've seen it used a lot.
Thanks
Rick
How can I quickly set up a document with facing pages so that I can design across the 2 page spread. Currently I'm generating single pages and dragging them into position using the small page icons in the documents pallette. What a pain. It's so easy in Quark.
