Hello,
I have a network with a modem (LinkSys ADSL ME3), attached to a router (Linksys BEFSR81) granting network access to a bunch of computers.
The router is blocking access to many sites one employee needs access to. We want to leave the security as it is, but circumvent it for one user.
Is it...
Hello!
I'm sure this is a simple question for most here.
I'm running cable in an office for a fax line.
The cable is cat5e.
One end of the cable terminates with a RJ11 jack and the other end terminates in an RJ11 wallplate.
Based on what I've found online, on the wallplate end, I'm cabling as...
Hello,
I need to map drives for different users on PCs that I don't have physical access to.
I've done a bit of research, and think maybe what I need to do is create individual scripts for each user, mapping their drives, and add the script to their profile in Active Directory.
I must be...
Hello,
I ran Avast AV this morning - it found 1 infection and suggested a boot scan. This also found 1 infection and removed it.
After rebooting, the network card completely stopped working.
No lights show on the card - I've uninstalled/reinstalled the driver.
I'm not sure that the virus issue...
I've got a few questions about Citrix.
I had Citrix Presentation Server 3.5 installed.
I uninstalled, and installed a fresh install of Citrix.
Support at Citrix told me to download XenApp 5.0 and install, then install Feature Pack, then Feature Pack 2, then Feature Pack 3.
So I downloaded 5.0...
I'm sure there is a more appropriate forum for my question - but I can't find it!
I have a small workgroup - connected via a DLink router.
I have a work laptop, running Windows 7 Business that I use VPN to connect to the office.
My router wants to block this access.
How can I open up a path...
I have two networked printer questions:
1) I have a small office, with all 4 computers on a workgroup. Each PC/laptop is physically connected to a printer, and they are all shared so that others may use these printers. Each shared printer is installed on the other PCs/laptops. Under "Printers"...
I'm in the process of switching our servers & workstations to a new domain.
For most PC's the transition is seamless (sometimes a bit slow) (adding the PC to the new domain and testing internet access).
For some PC's it takes FOREVER! The boot process is super slow, the first time I go to...
Hello,
How can I tell if my copy of SQL Server 2005 is licensed?
I have a server with this installed on it (by a previous group of people).
I suspect that they may have installed a trial version? or something similar (although it's been in use for a few years).
Is there somewhere I could check...
I have big problems!
I have just set up a new domain controller running Windows Server 2003.
I've tested it with workstations, and connections work fine.
Now I've taken another server (also running Server 2003) and tried to join it to my new domain.
It seemed to work, then needed a reboot.
On...
I have a PC running Windows 2000 Pro.
It won't boot into Windows in regular mode - either freezes - with no error, or the last time, displayed a STOP error - NO_PAGES_AVAILABLE.
I can boot to safe mode.
I'm running a memory test right now.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Amber
I'm trying to set up a new domain controller.
I'm using MS Server 2003 R2. I've also set it up as a DNS server.
I did all this using the wizards.
Now I'm trying to join a PC (XP Pro) to the new domain, but it can't find the domain controller.
I've googled, but can only find step by step...
My son't PC is broken once again.
It's an Acer desktop (piece of crap). It's around 2 years old - but almost everything in it was completely replaced last year (new motherboard, PSU).
Now it's acting up again.
It started randomly restarting.
Then it stopped shutting down properly (if you shut...
I'm working in an office that is quite 'long' - with ~20 employees.
We have a cable internet connection, connected to a DLINK DI 604 router - connected to 2 DLINK DSS -16+ switches. Cables run from these switches to users in the surrounding offices.
We have one cable that runs about 1/2 the...
I have a client with an HP 2600n colour laser printer.
She was having trouble printing labels - there was a black image 'ghosting' down the sheet. After labels were printed, the next few pages would be smudgy and a bit of ghosting visible, but would eventually clean up, and print clear until the...
I'm looking for some advice/suggestions as to what might be the best way to set up remote access to our company.
We are currently affiliated with a large corporation, and all users have access to RDP their PCs and access some software apps via Citrix over the internet.
We are going to separate...
I have a CD-RW drive that no longer works.
There are no errors in device manager.
I have tried reinstalling the drivers - no difference.
When I put a CD in, the hourglass pops us with the disk on it. But nothing ever happens.
When I look at the D: drive in My Computer - it is always empty.
When...
Hello,
I have a table that contains a field "Block", which is the field I want to group on, and "Source" that may contain one of three choices (Cruise, Precomp, Estimate).
There are bunch of numerical fields in this same table.
Each 'block' will have one of the 3 'source' choices, and maybe...
I have a user that has lost all her desktop icons.
I suspect it has to do with her profile - she logs in with an XP desktop and a Vista Business laptop.
What I'm confused about, is her user name is DCunningham - and when I'm on the XP desktop (which is where she lost her desktop) and I navigate...
In an attempt to automate printer setup on my network, I wrote a vbscript that did this.
I'm new to all this, and wasn't sure how to make it work.
I'm using SBS 2003 on my server.
I ended up adding the line: call "\\MCSS-SERVER\NETLOGON\printers.vbs" in my SBS_LOGON_SCRIPT.bat file. And this...
