Your problem is quite simple: with the phone on the hook, press the "MUTE" button. If it is lit (red LED), you are in automatic answer mode. If it is off, the phone rings (this is only for internal calls).
Or check that forced automatic answer is disabled! (Off)
For a while I received NS700/1000 UK version, to switch the phone displays to French I used this (included instructions and multi-language files)
