I have a weird issue where asp pages are not auto loaded in my IE7 browser. I'm prompted with a File Download dialog box with the following:
Some files can harm your computer. If the information below looks suspicious do not open or save this file:
File Name: doctl.asp
So far, I've looked...
I've created a user ID ( _adminsupspec ) to be used as a template. All the required groups are included in the ID. The ID has been disabled and the managed by field is clear. I've set the ID to be hidden from exchange address lists.
So far the disabled account is still viewable in the...
The Friday mystery. On several occasions over the past few months I’ve had the following event happen:
A printer connected to a system via lpt1 will switch to DOT_4 after the system has been through a power down and a restart via the power switch. The printer is shared on the network. Any other...
This script connects to systems listed in a file and runs the systeminfo cmd, returning the output to stdout where it's captured and written to a text file. All works well until I come across one system that is online but does not respond to the system info cmd. At that point the script waits...
check the default printer files (qsysprt and the rest). i've seen them be replaced during an upgrade.

In the windoze world the max path length is ~248 - 260 characters. see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365247.aspx for more information.

try using the find command and pipe the output to a file
ex: find "mystring" infile.txt > outfile.txt

check your user class, you may need to be *sysopr or *secadm to use the command.
try WRKOBJ OBJ(*ALL/DLTPFR*) to locate the command. if you locate it, and it's not in your *libl, you'll need to use the fully qualified name.

first, the obvious, check the control panel on the system. look for a yellow/orange led being lit. if so, then look at the lcd display and record the src (system reference code). you will use that to start troubleshooting. if that is clear, check the system console for a logon display. if you...

a few questions.
is the printer hanging off a PC?
if so, is it connected serial or parallel?
if so, what emulation program are you using?
if so, is the PC in use during print jobs?
who's the printer mfg?
sorry for so many questions, but it will help us understand the environment.

yup, you can use baluns and cat3 cabling. Just make sure the polarity is right. IBM has twin-ax tester but I don't remember the model #.
Big gotcha: do not use any twin-ax cabling in the string.
The console should be the first device in the string and don't forget to set it to adr 0. You...

TIA:
I have a problem with a single user trying to save an excel file to a network drive. Other users with identical permissions(RWX) do not have a problem saving data.
The server OS is win2k or win2k3. The user has RWX permission to the directory. The user can save the file to the desktop and...
You can give this a try,
wrkoutqd output(*outfile)
assuming all the printers have outq's.
Search the result file as needed.
If there is no *outfile option, take the *print option to search the spoolfile or copy the spool file to a database file from there.

AFAIK, you can't access the drivers on WinServer from the 400. The 400 may have a driver supporting your printer. If not then you may need to enter the wonderful world of WorkStation Customization. Here's a link to IBM's knowledgebase...
HTH,
I don't think the 400 can see the printer q on the windoze server, however, assuming the printer has its own IP, the 400 can print directly to the network printer via a remote outq. search this forum for info on how to do that.
