Do you take care of cell phones at your work?

Oooh lots of other peeps suffering the same as me! I look after 65, so I bow down to the goddess of Telco :-) I agree with all she said: my other addition would be making sure people know they need to contact you the MOMENT they lose their phone, especially if they thinkm it may have been...

barcode printing + 2 columns of labels

I'm with James259 on this - why would you make two columns? We use 10 different label types here, including barbells. The format is just the same as any other, we just have description and pricing on the left 'bell', and barcode info on the right. The program still sees it as one label. Sounds...

    Wireless webcam for security

We have 16 Axis cameras here at work, and I would definitely recommend them. Look for the 'w' suffix on a model to indicate wireless. Most are capable of what you are looking for - motion sensing, upload to ftp. Pan, tilt and zoom ups the cost quite a bit! Picture quality can be astounding...

    Posix dates to normal

Yay for tek tips. Fast, correct answers in 5 minutes. Thanks very much! Now...Skip - I am *really* missing the point of that link! Am I having a very dumb day?

    Posix dates to normal

Hi I have a people counting camera that outputs data in xml format. After struggling to convert it to regular csv (which it now does), I find that the dates are in f%&@ing posix format. Is there an easy way to convert this to regular dates in Excel, so that my tables and charts will mean...

    the length of vga cable

We have just gone thru the exact same process at work (we're installing HDTV's to display advertising - content is streamed from a PC base). The AV engineer who did the cabling said that good quality VGA cables are fine to approx 25', and that he has run slightly further with no real issue, BUT...

    Rack / Cab mounts

Thanks for the info. Nick - I've just had a quote through, and their guy suggested rack shelves for our towers anyway. The cab will go against a wall ultimately, so the cables issue will hopefully be a non-issue! Lawnboy - thanks for the tip re specific servers - I let them know what we were...

    Rack / Cab mounts

Hi all Hope this is OK to ask in here, but I figured you lot would have an answer! We're going to need some rack/cabinet mount capability soon. At the moment we have 5 Dell tower servers, but space is becoming an issue and rack mounted servers make more sense. I presume some of you at least...

    Netscreen user limit, 5GT?

If the newer 10-user models work the same as the older, you will not get away with this. Literally every outgoing connection counts as a user. I'm actually browsing this forum as I have to replace ours with an unlimited model, as we keep getting too many 'user limit exceeded' error messages. I'm...

SBS 2003 and existing domain / servers

Thanks again for the replies. They need a server for the till units, otherwise yes, there would be little point. Final question - I guess it makes much more sense to configure the server on-site rather than trying to join the domain thru a vpn connection (if that is even possible)? Cheers Mike

SBS 2003 and existing domain / servers

Thanks 58sniper and dberg - cost is not so much of an issue, and keeping it part of the same domain for support reasons makes perfect sense. Silly question, but I presume I'll still need to vpn into it, as I'll be going local network > router > internet > router > remote server ? Just the...

Hi I didn't want to duplicate post, but I have a question I think some of the Dell forumites might be able to help with...please see my other thread here: thread181-27567 Cheers Mike

SBS 2003 and existing domain / servers

Hi We are a small site (approx 40 users) running a few dell poweredge servers, mainly Windows Server 2000 and 2003. (Our PDC is still NT4 though). These servers host Epos DB (MS Dynamics, formerly Navision), credit card software and security cameras. We're looking at taking on an even smaller...

How to deal with Dell's price changes online...

Sorry I didn't actually add anything about quotes there. I do the same as Nick - generate basket, email to acc manager and say 'what can you do?'. Never had any real grief, as I try and add everything I MIGHT need at the start.

How to deal with Dell's price changes online...

Heh sounds like we all have our sales people nicely controlled! Another good freebie can be PDA's - I've often stuck a cheeky 'any axims going spare?' on the final order email (AFTER getting the price down to what we need), and more often than not they will do.

    PERC 3/Di Controller 0 , battery low.?

You need to recondition the battery - if you look at the device through array manager, one of the tabs has a 'recondition' button on it. Not advised during business hours I believe! I normally start ours just before the close of business (to make sure it doesn't error soon after starting), and...

Bloody hell this site is exceptional sometimes. Thanks, works perfectly.

One for the Excel genii - odd ceiling request

Hi I need to do some price rounding - I usually use the CEILING function, but this is a little more complicated. The 4 acceptable price points are .25 / .49 / .75 and .99 The price should just jump to the next highest price point, so a couple of examples: .45 would go to .49; .76 go to .99...
