S-video from laptop to TV, cable already in place.

I actually just had this issue with my Dell laptop. Worked last week, doesn't now. To fix it (it has an ATI chip in it) right click the desktop, choose properties, go to the settings tab, then click the Advanced button. Now click on the Display tab (if it is ATI) and click on the TV. Worked...

Cable TV to 6 rooms? Which pro?

Any way you slice it, mine works great! And it is art too, kind of abstract :)

Cable TV to 6 rooms? Which pro?

Ok, I found some pictures on my site, but they are from the first weekend when I moved in. These were taken before I cleaned it up and made all the wires nice-nice. http://www.geekfestlan.com/images/wire1.jpg The first picture you see the multiplexor (takes two DSS signals and a cable signal...

    USB Version?

You definately have USB 1.1 and not 2.0, 2.0 wasn't available back then. Are you looking for aditional USB ports? If that is the case, you have a couple of options. 1) A USB PCI card that will go in one of the open slots in your machine. These usually provide between 2 and 4 additional...

Cable TV to 6 rooms? Which pro?

I guess it all depends on what your budget and expectations are. I have a system that uses the Open House products - http://www.multiplextechnology.com/openhouse/ and it works great. I am sure higher quality products may be available, but at what cost? Sorry I totally spaced on that...

I need a way to restrict Internet Bandwidth usage for some users

That series of routers does provide what it calls "bandwidth management", so you should be able to do this. Unfortunately I have no experience with cisco routers so you may want to ask this question in the cisco router section good luck

    CDR Compatability

I have found that there is no rhyme or reason to when an RW CD will work, and on what machines. I am pretty sure they were designed to work on the machine they were burnt on, but not necessarily anything else. I have tried burning files at my home to a CD-RW, then bring them to the office and...

    Login Scripts

This is a nice site for logon scripts, and it includes one for changing a homepage. http://www.rethinkit.com/ntscript/LogonScript.htm Grant

    Remove games using logon script

You could always replace them with another program. Like maybe something that pops up and asks them if they have work to do :)

    Replacement for HP670C

Pretty much any of the HPs will work, there are only a few that don't get up to 2400x1200. I have a 9** series and it is great (can't remember which one). I use an HP All-in-one that is super, if you need more than just a printer, check those out.

    Usb problems, printer not detected

Unfortunately there is no support for USB in NT, you will either have to switch the machine over to 95/98/ME/2K/XP or use a parallel cable for the printer.

Computer will not boot with USB printer attached

Do they boot up with other USB peripherals plugged in? I have a PC with XP Pro that has a USB HP All-in-one that I don't have any issues with. If it works with a USB mouse or other peripheral plugged in, then try rebooting a different PC with the printer plugged in. You are going to need to...

Cable TV to 6 rooms? Which pro?

I don't see it in the gallery on my site, I will post it tomorrow and put the url up here. It is definately a convenient way to make a mess :)

Cable TV to 6 rooms? Which pro?

Oh, one more thing. The next addition will be a camera at the front door that runs back to the patch panel and uses an RF Modulator to distribute the signal to all of the TVs in the house on a specific channel. That way when the doorbell rings you can switch over to 4 (any number really) and...

Cable TV to 6 rooms? Which pro?

No, I have the cable coming into the laundry room from outside, then that connects to my cable modem. From there I have the ethernet cable connecting it to a Linksys router. From there you can distribute to the rest of the house. I have a patch panel so you just run a cable from the router...

What is the difference between NVIDIA and ATI?

Both of the companies are pretty equal now. In the past ATI had issues with driver support, but it seems that they have finally figured out the error in their ways. I used to be an ATI person, but when my Rage Fury Maxx wasn't supported in Win2K, it was off to nVidia I went, and I have been...

    beep beep beep

I assumed that he had already been able to boot the PC using the onboard video. If that is not the case, then rip out the video card and start there.

    beep beep beep

Those beeps are coming from your mother board, check the documentation and it will tell you what it represents. I am guessing that the video card is bad, but that is just a guess.

Can't get new computer to boot up Windows XP

I think it will bring up the Desktop before it tells you that you need to contact Microsoft, but I could be wrong.

S-video from laptop to TV, cable already in place.

I agree with AdmanOK. The toggle is usually just for the monitor, not the S-Video out. I use my Dell like this and I have noticed that when I have a movie in, it goes full screen automatically on the TV, but stays as the default setting on the S-video.
