New installation. IP500v2 with a single combo card installed. Started the system with the phones plugged in. System came up with phones operational in Partner mode. Great.

Changed to IPOffice mode and applied valid license file.

Used Admin9_1_70_163, the lastest as far as I can see.

9508 phones stuck, looking for software.

Uploaded 9500R59.bin and 9500BootR17.bin to the memory card using embedded file management. Made sure system was set to Memory card and TFTP was set to lan1 ip address, 192.168.42.1.

Still no go.

Recreated the SD card and started over again. Same result.

Formated the card and recreated the card. Same result.

Set Manager as the TFTP server, the system pulled my HoldMusic.wav file, but ignored the two bin files for the 9508 phones.

Using embedded file management, noticed that the file attributes of the two files uploaded are set to "archive", while the other files are set to system and read-only. Embedded file management will not allow me to change the file attributes.

As a side note, using the Mangager software on two different PC's, I can only administer the first Line of the combo card. Regardless of which line is highlighted, it continues to show line number 1, card 1, port 9.

Additionally I should add that I have downloaded and re-installed both the lite and full version of Admin from support, same results on desktop and laptop.

In addition to your 9508 woes, after reading about your line programming issues, you unequivocably have a corrupted config.
You could u seat the card and then delete it. Then put it back.

If 'twere me i probably default the box and write a new standard mode config.
Format the SD card (after grabbing the licenses) if it's still being a hew or.

Punjab Power. Lighting up your life.

Created a new off line config file and sent it in. This resolved the "line" problem, the 9508 phones still no go.

he said to default the config, but remember to save your licenses 1st as you will need to put them back in once you have done as instructed and I agree, it sounds like you corrupted the config

Downgraded the system to 9.1.600.153 via DTE, (would not downgrade via Manager). All appears to be working now. Phones getting software.

Yes - DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT install a system at 9.1.7 it is just not worth the hassle. 9.1.6 seems fine so far though :)

Personally nothing as I haven't installed it anywhere (mainly because as the lead project engineer I get to make the decision and we always operate on an N-1 basis), but there seem to be a lot of people moaning about basics just not working properly.

Smart more people should follow this example. Some people just want the latest and greatest, but quite often the latest is not the greatest. At the very least, test the new software before blindly implementing it on a live system. Even that step seems to be missed far to often.

One would think that after 7 service packs they would have 9.1 nice and stable.

When you are working as a sub-contractor, you follow the directions provided. We were told to install the latest version, and even provided the Admin/Manager software on DVD.

As a side note, did not upgrade from 9.1.6 to 9.1.7. Left it at 9.1.6. Another side note, once the control unit was at 9.1.6 it took a good long while to downgrade the combo card, about 30 minutes, but it did downgrade. This was necessary as only ports 4 and above were working while at 9.1.7. Once downgraded, they all worked properly.

If you were told to put 9.1.7 on the system then it is clearly not on you. The best you can do is to advise them not to use 9.1.7 or lie and say you are using 9.1.7. I know people who are told to program line appearances, and just change the call appearances to say lines 1-4 and the customer never knows. Sometimes you have to save people from themselves I guess.

As for thinking the software would be stable after 7 service packs, look at Windows Vista... that OS was a turd start to finish. 9.1.4-9.1.6 seemed to be fairly decent. To be honest though, I have had better success on later versions of 9.0 then 9.1 in general.
