The back up runs but it gets about 1/3 of the way through and starts trying to backup the drive again and does the same each time until it times out on all attempts. This has happened on 2 new machines that have been added.
Has anyone had this problem before ?

Looks weird. At least the NW version, the OS and some
messages from the logs will be helpful.

NW version - 6.1.3
OS - Win2k
Error message - 3 retries attempted.
In the demon log - !no output
I have looke through the message, savegrp and demon logs and thats all it gives me.

check you NIC settings. Maybe they're at autonegotiaton. The other thing you could do, is adding the "ipaddress" of the backupserver in the Clientsresource "Server Network Interface"
Also set the retries to 1 thats enough.

rgd's

make sure the client will not be restartetd during the backup and that the
NW Remote Exec Service (nsrexecd) is up and running.
