Blood Pressure Is Going Up!

What have I bought here? A big piece of buggy fluff?
Nothing seems to work like the little manual say it do.
No siree bub.
I especially like how the perspective grid doesn't work.
Let me amend that: works sometime, doesn't work others.
There are only.....count them...1,2,3,4,5 steps to attach
an object to the perspective grid....but something goes dreadfully awry. It just doesn't seem to work consistently at all. What's this thing require, Haitian voodoo practices to run right? Can anyone tell me if it has ever worked properly before? Inquiring minds want to know.

You know, right now you could buy my laptop, my two CPU's, my printer, my scanner, my digital camera, my draw pad....all my software and a ton of helpful ( yeah right ) manuals for the bargain price of $50. I'm totally burnt out on 'hi tech' with low tech results. [sig][/sig]

Hey, I'd love to buy all your equipment from you, but I think I can help you with your perspective grid problem instead...

First, I'd recommend the Visual Quickstart Guide for the program, it's an excellent book for learning the ins and outs of this robust program.

To attach an object to the perspective grid, select the object and move it to the location that you'd like it. Without releasing the mouse, press the left arrow key to attach it to the left grid, the right arrow key to attach it to the right grid, down to attach it to the floor and orient it toward the right vanishing point, and up to attach it to the floor and orient to toward the left vanishing point.

reece....thank you for covering the drill on attaching to a perspective grid....but what everyone fails to mention is that you FLAT OUT CAN'T attach imported gifs or jpegs to the grid, only the text or rudimentary path/objects you can create within Freehand.

This application is one of those programs that function counterintuitively to all which have preceded it, thus making it a constant braindrain to try and acquire. I found Ray Dream Studio 5 to be the same way, and once I feel that way about a software application, I reconcile the loss in my capital outlay and exile the application to the elephant graveyard. I don't waste my time with highly proprietary apps. which don't play well with others. I just move on to other things until I find what works for me.

Thanks for your assistance, though. If you notice the date I first posted this question, it was back in September. I've dropped Freehand as a serious tool long since, and gone on to bigger and better things.
