I have been able to read picture attachments before, but a certain individual, who is using Outlook, is sending me pictures I cannot access. They do not appear as attachments or inside the letter. However, they arrive, because the letters are very large in terms of K's. Another person I know who got the same letter using Netscape Navigator only got "Winmail.dat" as an attachment.
Any ideas? I'm using Outlook Express version 6.00.2800 on a Win 98 SE machine.

Have the sender resend the message in HTML or Plain Text format. The sender is sending in Ritch Text Format (RTF) which your mail clients do not interpret correctly.

Hello, SMAH

Thanks for the tip. I'll send the person this info and see if it makes a difference. It doesn't make sense to me, though, as I can read the rest of his letters --- just not see the pictures.

In OE 6.0 go Tools ->Options and select the security tab. Under Virus Protection make sure that the check box beside "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" is NOT checked. If it is, uncheck it and then click Apply and then OK. Close and reopen OE and you should see and be able to open the attachments.

When you do an IE update or Windows update the attachement security will sometimes be reset to block attachments.

Cheers

Dear cmeagan656:

I checked OE's settings - - - "Do not allow...virus" is unchecked. So that's not the problem. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I know that can be a problem.
