I have a Sony Trinitron monitor. It's been working normally, but when i came into the office this morning, the screen display was severely distorted. Still sharp, but it tended to look like an hourglass shape. I swapped in a different monitor, and that new monitor appears to work fine on that machine. I took the "flaky" monitor and put it on my machine, and the same problem happens - severly distorted image.

So that would lead one to believe that it is something with the monitor. I tried the physical adjustments on it to no avail.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to a fix. As you read this, I'm probably calling Sony right now, but I've got some really helpful responses from this forum so I wanted to try you guys out first.

Thank you.

sounds like sonys your best bet

i would suspect there is somthing wrong with the vertical focus/hold mechanisum within the monitor itself.

sorry i cant be off any more help

that's Ok - after doing a considerable amount of snooping around, I found that it's an internal problem that should be looked at by a certified monitor specialist.

So if this problem happens to anyone else, that's the ticket. I believe the "techinical" if you will, term for the problem was the "pincushioning" hold.
