Explorer Acting Up

Has anyone else seen these yet? Recently Vista's Windows Explorer has begun acting up.

If you create an empty file or folder via the "New" context menu you often "lose" it and can't change the name. You have to Refresh and then Rename.

Auto-refresh in general doesn't seem to occur reliably anymore, requiring a Refresh in order to see newly created files in the folder.

Also, Explorer seems to be creating UNC paths in the address bar. This goes further: if you have a BAT/CMD file in a folder and execute it via double-click in an Explorer window, the thing comes up saying:
'\\MyHost\Users\Freddy\Documents\Batch Test'
CMD.EXE was started with the above path as the current directory.
UNC paths are not supported. Defaulting to Windows directory.

I can't say I have had any problems creating a New Folder.

Some mention on Google of an Add-on that might help in the UNC situation. I can't work out whether it is just for Windows Desktop Search, or all situations, you might like to have a look at it anyway.

Alas, the UNC problem turned out to be a shortcut to a work folder I use a lot. Somehow (I am clueless how) the shortcut got changed to a UNC path to this folder.

The other issue with a lack of auto-refresh continues. Now if only I could determine what I might have done to cause that!

These are XP related but might offer a clue or two?

Yep, F5 it is for now. I'd love to blame it on a recent Vista patch since I didn't see this behavior in the past on this machine. Since nobody else is seeing it though it has to be something of my own doing.
