Hi,

I have been given a series of Excel sheets that need to be modified, combined etc. The 'gifted' individuals who have provided the extracts have left a '*' character at the end of a bunch of date values (about 6 columns of dates, 20k+ rows and about 60% have the asterisk).

I realise I can do a 'text to columns' or a 'left(field reference,7) or some other approach, but was looking for a way to 'replace'the asterisk with the find/replace function.

How can I define the 'search' value as an literal asterisk rather than a wildcard?

Thanks in advance.

You type a tilde before the wildcard, like ~* instead.

Cheers, Glenn.

Did you hear about the literalist show-jumper? He broke his nose jumping against the clock.

Thanks Glenn,

Knew there had to be something out there - just couldn't find it in the manual.

Cheers
