I've just installed a 2nd hme in an E250, to be used as a backup server for a database. We have been unable to this poin to establish a link with a Cisco 5500 switch. Here are the diags we'vw done so far :

1. Ran OBP Diag on hme1, PCI slot 3 : Transceiver fails
2. Boot server multi : Link down, hme never negotiates with switch but is plumbed up
3. Force connect to 100/full via OBP set-speed=high : no change
4 swap ports with hme0 : hme1 fails no connect, hme0 is normal
5. Set local MAC via OBP use-local-mac : no change
6. Replace hme card, tests 1-5 still all fail
7. Connect hme1 to simple HUB : link integrity is established, we cannot connect to the sitch however via HUB
8. connect Tom G, laptop via peer to peer to run diag, can't connect to hme
9. remove hme1 and relocate to PCI slot 1, bus 1 : test 1 -5 still fail
10. disabled onboard hme0 - booted with hme1 only : no change
11. removed RSC device from PCI slot 1in case of conflict : no change
12. snooped hme1, and fired successive pings from lbc80 : out of 50 pings, it saw 4.
13. .profiled device tree at OBP : hme is recognized by system as correct type and config

It's to the point where SUN field engineer support has exhausted all avenues. Has anyone installed a second hme in a 250/450 ? Any ideas ?
