Can someone point me in the direction of info on how to start setting up an 802.11 network at home.
I tun two desktop PC's, one laptop and an iMac.
I want to link them all so i can experiment with video of the link.

Do i just by wireless PCI cards, airport and PCMICA cards or do i need a base unit of some kind.

I have trawled the web and visited a few manufacturers sites but no basic "heres how to do it"

Please Help

The easiest way is to get a wireless access point (base station). Although you can communicate from one PCMCIA/PCI device to another (I believe they call this ad hoc mode) it is far simpler to just buy a decent access point. That way if you are planning to share an internet connection (i.e. DSL) you can use the access point if it has routing and NAT capabilities to share the connection.

Other than GTI4LIFE's suggestion, I would also make sure you do some reasch on using software on their native protocols to get these two machine to talk. For example Appletalk and TCP/IP. I know their is some software called "Dave" that enables for this to happen in a somewhat streamless manner.
