How to add stripes 1

Your strategy should be clone and duplicate, not cut and paste.
1. Set a new layer. Makes it easier to select the lines.
2. Make a line and define its characteristics.
3. Clone it <cntrl><sft>C and with the clone still selected move the clone off the top of the parent to the position you want it. Leave it selected! Hint! If you hold the shift key whioe you are moving it it will be constrained to move in a straight x, y, or 45 degree direction.
4. Duplicate <cntrl>D for as many times as you need stripes.
5. Select all the lines and distribute centers, moving the outer two lines until all the lines in between are spaced with such that the space between the lines is the same as the alternate stripe width.
6. Draw a rectangle around the lines, fill with the alternate stripe color and send it to the back. <cntrl>B
You just created the stripes!
7. Put the layer with the stripes below the layer with the object that you want to fill with stripes.
8. Select the stripes (both the lines and the filled rectangle) and cut <cntrl>X
9. Here's the beautiful step! Select the object and hit paste inside <cntrl><sft>V.
Lots of alternatives with this method so get creative!

The easiest way to do this is to create an image your stripes with the width and color. Then create a table or cell you want for it to appear it and put that image as the background. It will automatically tile it repeating the image over and over in the background.
