Server is running windows 2000 server and backup exec 10.0d, but local stations are running Windows xp. The hard drive on my station is currently replaced, so I need to re-install Remote Agent on my station. I do not have the 10.0D CD because we were upgraded from 9.1. I tried depoly the remote agent from server but failed. I search around but could find anything. Any help?

Copy program files\veritas\backup exec\nt\agents\rant32 folder from the server to workstation. Then open a cmd prompt on the workstaiton and change dir to RANT32 and issue the command setupaa.cmd

This will install it silently

steveot, thanks for your answer. I finished the step you mentioned and confirmed that remote agent service was installed and started; however, I was wondering what do I need to do on the backup server to link between the server and the workstation? The reason I asked is when I reinstall win xp pro on the new hard drive of this workstation, I rename this workstation as the same name as before; therefore, the backup job I set before already contains the name of this workstation. I tried to re-configure the backup job, but it kept gave me logon account used to run backup the username and password not match. So, I was wondering how does Backup Exec detect there is a new workstation joined in the group? Also, I suspect the name of the workstation in the current backup job might not be the same as this workstation.

NOt sure what you asking. But if the rebuild workstation is the same name this nothing changes in the selection list. If you create a new job and try to select the workstation and it prompts you I suspect it more of DNS issue. THe workstaiton name is probably the same but IP different. If your in a workgroup then you will need to provide credention to local admin on the xp box.
