Even though I was successful at copying oracle files from one server to another in attempting to RECOVER a database, what would be possibility to change the path to $ORACLE_BASE.

In other words, is it that easy to change the path to ORACLE? Or should one reinstall Oracle from scratch. If not, what would be procedure to change installation dirs for Oracle on RedHat 8?

Easy on UNIX (just fake the real path with a soft link) not so easy on NT.

There is no need to reinstall from scatch - as long as you have a backup of ORACLE_HOME use that
