Here's a few interesting articles I have found in my search for the latest technology :)

Thought some of you might find these interesting.

C3D has unveiled its three-dimensional optical memory storage devices, which utilize fluorescent chemicals to pack gigabytes and even terrabytes into every square centimeter of disk space.

It is C3D's Fluorescent Multi-layer (FM) technology which enables the regular-sized 120mm FMD-ROM disk to store 140 GB, compared to today's 650 Megabyte CD-ROM disks and 5 GB DVDs.

Nanochip NCV16 - NC900SX status

HD-ROM & the "ET" Data Storage System Store 200 Gigabytes per Disc with Norsam's High Density HD-ROM

HOLOGRAPHIC MEMORY?
"if information is stored in 3 dimensions, a disk with a recording medium 1-mm thick holds more information than 100 compact disks of the same diameter."
Holographic memory could in theory provide up to (and beyond) a gigabyte memory storage. That is MAJOR news! Then I saw the date of the articles and realized that they were all from 1995, 1996 and 1997!

hmm must have been extremely expensive to replicate, I didnt read the article yet, but did you note anything concerning Stability , speed, and realiability.

(wonders if the same technic can be used for permenet memory such as harddrives, that's certainly help)
Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=
Experienced in , or have messed with : VC++, Borland C++ Builder, VJ++6(starting),VB-Dos, VB1 thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, Borland C++ 3(DOS), Borland C++ 4.5, HTML, ASP(somewhat), QBasic(least i didnt start with COBOL)

Guys, do you know physics? Can you compare difference in the size of information between usual photo and Hologramm? When we account reliablity and stability, that will be just exactly 100 times difference. [sig]
Vlad Grynchyshyn
vgryn@softserve.lviv.ua
[/sig]
