I hope some generous person will help a newbie! I trace an image with the tracing tool and the outline is selected, no problem, but then I would like to place this traced outline on a new layer, or move it to a new document. How do I do this? After tracing, the "Copy" command is greyed out, and when I just try pasting, it pastes the entire image instead of just the traced outline.
Lost and bewildered

I have not used FreeHand for a while so I am not 100% sure this will work. After tracing, make sure the outline is selected. Then, with the outline still selected, click on the layer name you want to move the selection to. I think this will move the selection to that layer. Post back if it does not work & I will try to find the correct method for you.

Thank you so much for your reply. That did not work for me, however I was able to simply trace the outline directly onto a new layer.
