I am running Windows 98 SE on a Dell 350. As I use my files for my webpages, which are associated with Netscape Navigator 7.2 (Mozilla), the icons are reverting to generic icons. They still open the way they are supposed to, but the icons are going . . . not all yet, but many.

I've defragged, scanned disk, used Norton Utilities, used SpyBot & Ad-Aware to remove possible malware . . .the icons are still not there. I've tried to re-associate the files with Netscape - - no help. All patches have been applied to the operating system, Explorer, and to Office, I believe.

Any ideas?

are you referring to favicon.ico files? or desktop shortcut icons?

I think I've solved my own problem,at least the icons are back. Only thing I did differently was to delete large files from the Outlook Express "sent" folder . . . maybe there's a tie-in there.

But they're back.
