Navigator Icons Turned Generic!

I am running Windows 98 SE with Netscape Navigator 7.1 as my default browser. No problems using it, and the files all still recognize Netscape as their "parent", but the icons for all Netscape (Mozilla) files are now generic.
I've tried the Tweaku trick of fixing icons -- no effect.
I've scanned with Norton Disk Doctor -- no change.
Any ideas?

You mean that you WANT the Favicon.ico BUG!!!!!???
I can't believe it.
Please tell me HOW you got RID of it?

Do a google for Favicon.ico and you'll get a ton of hits on how to GIVE and GET it.........but NOT ONE on how to chop off it's 3 heads with a Machete.

I've got my own little workaround though....just sometimes it gets annoying to have to do tha extra step all the time

I'm not sure I understand your message. To my knowledge, the icons changed suddenly without anything being downloaded to my computer.
Now that I think of it, I did try to create a "pack & go" PowerPoint file for someone who does not have the program. Would that have had any effect on the icons?

it's possible in some sort of weird way that Netscape wasn't really your "default" browser...and somehow you activated it during that file creation process...
Did U google yet?

I just realized...I may have misunderstood you..my apologies if so...
Do you mean that the icons you've chosen....such as the "change icon" button will do, in an IE or Desktop shortcut, have changed??
and/or
Do u want the particular web-sites fav icon that u get from a visit..?

Do a google on favicon.ico if possible just to get a sense of what i mean

FWIW...I happen to only have Netscape 4.06 pro available, and use it only on rare occasions....I believe 7.1 is quite a bit different.....

To clarify things: I just opened my folder where I keep most of my web pages saved, and the icons had all changed to a generic icon. The option to switch them to something else does not appear to be available. Restarting the machine, and refreshing the page has no effect. They still operate the way they are supposed to, but . . . .
And Navigator has been my default browswer, and still is.

It's completely baffled me; I'm kinda worried that this may be a sign of other bad things to come . . . .
