Does anyone know if it is possible to create your own method of creating new users in the APS. I already have database that I manage users and their login information and I want to create/delete a user in the APS whenever I create/delete a user in my system. I attempted to manually create a user by adding a user to the CE8 database but it says it can't find that user in the database...

Anyone have any luck with this?

Thanks.
Daniel

where are your existing users? in a directory server? you could use the LDAP connectivyt for CE if so. there will be programmatic calls to add users to ce with the next version.

The users are in a SQL Server database...I just heard that the next version will have API's to do this but I was looking for a way without the API's...

Thanks again!

Don't try adding your own users through the back end until the API calls are ready. CE (like its predecessor Seagate Info) has its own way of keeping the various user and security information synchronized. At best your user won't work, at worst you could bollix the entire security setup.

The administrative API's are going to made available in the next release of Crystal Enterprise. These API's would allow you to import users into the Crystal Enterprise.

I just got the beta (McKinley) and it works great, the new API's work really well...only a few bugs so far...

Thanks again...
