Hi

I have a few shared excel sheets on a mapped drive (server 2k3) that are being accessed by excel 2k3 & 2k7 clients.

What is happening is that the sheets are bloating to about 10Mb (from 1.25Mb) and also becoming renamed as 3711CD60 or similar (which I know is the mid-save temp file that excel creates)

Can'#t find what is the cause to this misery .... the 2k7 clients opening the sheets in compatibility mode, the network drive, Satan Claws or the Wicked Witch of the West !!!!

Any pointers in what to check / change would be appreciated.

Hi,

Shared Workbooks are bloated by nature of being shared.

Skip,

If I access the 10Mb sheet in 2k7 and save as .xlsx it saves as 1.25Mb but is still shared !!!!!
Also if I "remake" the workbook in 2k3 and save it. it's back to 1.25Mb !!

Arghhhhhhhhhhh
