Trouble with printing a graphic in Word Processing

Has anyone else found a problem with inserting a graphic(even from the library within the program) into an Appleworks word processing file and having it print out SOOOOOOOOOO slowly it's unreal ? (This is an iMac and a USB HP Deskjet)
