Hi all,

I know the obvious answer to this question but I was wondering about a correct way of doing it, so here goes.

We have various 2900 and 3600 series switches, is there a proper way of turning them off other than disconnecting the power....??

PS. More of a Discussion point than a question....

Thanks,

Brett.

I agree,

I was aiming more down the line of a Telnet command? To get it to do a software shutdown before a power off.

Thanks.

as far as I know, most network devices don't have a "shut down" command that works like shutting down the Windows before your turn off your comp. Mostly there is "reload/restart" commands to soft restart your network devices but not shutting down completely.

Even for those Unix-based network devices like Nokia firewalls, we usually just turn it off.

Thanks,

I guess I'll just continue to use the good old power cable out the back trick.

Thanks again,

Brett.
