Hope someone can help me out here as our desktop folk seem to be unable to. Running a laptop with Win2K, 128mb ram. Visio tends to intermittently cause the thing to crash completely. It just hangs and sits there, usually requiring a reboot. Anyone able to shed some light on this problem?

Thanks

I had the same problem with the pre-MS commercial release of Visio 2000. I nstalled the MS version (SP1)of Visio 2000 Enterprise, expanded swap space to 1Gb, and now it works fine. It was using up all available memory, then swap, and then freezing up......boo! This was on a 128Mb
Dell laptop.. The Sp1 version runs fine on a 128Mb Windows ME desktop I use as well.....

Yes. Be sure you have the Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) version. There were many bug fixes in this edition.

Visio is a memory hog, and it helps to increase virtual memory. Also, be sure you have enough hard disk space because Visio caches a lot on the hard drive, and if the drive is almost full it will crash the machine.
