I have a friend with a Toshiba M35X-S329 laptop. The DC socket is problematic and flakes out causing the laptop to run on battery unless you fiddle with the DC connection. He would like to replace the DC socket and I told him I'd help, but I'd like to know how involved the process is and where...
Will this command unmap all of the devices in the box?

If you're wondering it's a brand new box but the binfile put all luns visible on all FA's and I don't want that. Also what's the quickest way to put them all in a DG so I can not_ready them?
thanks for the...
I have 3 new RAID 5 arrays made up of 10 disk each for a total of about 1.2TB. I was wondering what our limitations are for the amount of logical drives we can use on the DS4800. Do you know the max number of Logical Drives we can create before we start seeing performance degradation? I...
My C drive is a 6GB IDE harddisk. I have two 9GB SCSI disks on the same box, currently drives E and G. I want to format both of them and create one 18GB partition from both of them. Then I want to migrate my C drive (which is almost full, only 420Mb left) to this new partition. My C drive...
Asked the EMC tech yesterday about it in an e-mail and he said he and others have installed using VNC with no issues.

look at the manpage for 'symconfigure'. You should also be able to find whitepapers on powerlink.emc.com.

I work from home in Washington State. I have a server in RTP, North Carolina which needs to have ECC installed (a single server install with Storage Scope and Performance View). I have hands and feet that can switch disk for me etc. And was wondering if it is possible to install either ECC...
Hi,
I just began supporting a customer remotely. They recently relocated their EMC SAN from Miami to Raleigh and after relocating EMC Control Center is not functional. I'm told that someone needs to re-install it, but they must be local to the server to do so. That is not currently an...
Thanks for the info. The strange thing to me is that 15 out of 50 were affected and they were all ordered and shipped and received at the same time, so I would've thought they either all had the problem or all did not have the problem. Strange....anyway, thanks for the help.

Hi all,
I just did a jumpstart install of Solaris8 on 50 brand new Sunblade 2500's. Most (35 or so) loaded just fine and are now identical to our other workstations, but a few had a strange error. After the jumpstart install was complete and the box was booting for the first time using the...
I think I found the problem (luser didn't tell me) it's on a KVM. The KVM is drawing power and some keys just won't function after a while. I told help desk to hook him up with another keyboard and have him run 2 keyboards. Thanks for the reply.

Hi all,
I have a user who is reporting problems with his function keys on an IBM 7044-170 running AIX 4.3.3.0 ML11. He says that the function keys do not work after the box has been up a while, but if he reboots they work fine for a while and then become unusable. He is sharing his monitor...
If you're using Veritas DMP you can use vxdmpadm to see your disk path outputs for SAN storage. Is this what you're looking for? Just type vxdmpadm on the command line with no arguments to see how to construct the command with flags and args.

Found the problem. Apparently the NIM image I used to upgrade the box had a NIM master setup on it unbeknownst to me. I took that off and all works fine now.
