I am still noving the company from Nortel to Avaya CM3.1 and the users don't now who is on Avaya and who is on Nortel. The two systems are not connected.
The users are dialing the 10 digit number tieing up 2 trunk ports, and I am running full.

I have 2 sites on Avaya, one in OK and one in Houston, connected via the WAN.
The extensions are 5 digits and setup as follows:

OK
DID 580.295.xxxx
Extn 2.xxxx

Houston
DID 713.830.xxxx
Ext 1.xxxx

How can I drop the leading NPA.NXX and insert 1?

You should be able to do that in the ARS Digit Conversion table. In the table delete the quantity of digits that you want and insert the digit that you want: for example, the matching patern is 580295, delete 6, insert 1. The network would be ARS.

Block out the 10 digit numbers in ARS or they'll never learn

DonBott

donbott, there is not need to block out the full 10 digit # in ARS, since he will be setting up "ars digit-conversion", which will convert the matching 10 digit # to his needed 5 digit extension #, which will be setup in the UDP/AAR tables to send it over an IP trunk.

schupp, one suggestion I would give you is, on the 2nd choice in the ars route, set it up to use the old PRI/T1, and convert it back to a full 10 digit public # for sending out the PRI/T1, that way if your IP trunks are full, or out of service, they still get through.

that way, you are covered in all circumstances :)
